Oat crackers

About the Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • ¼ cup water

  • 1/3 cup flour

  • 3 heaped Tbsp bran flakes

  • ¼ Cup olive oil

  • Your choice of seasonings e.g. salt/ pepper/ lemon juice/ sesame seeds/ rosemary/ etc.

Preparation

Step 1


Add all ingredients to a bowl and combine.



Step 2


Add your choice of additional seasonings- herbs/ spices/ etc.



Step 3


Line a tray with baking paper and place the dough on top, then press flat with damp hands.



Step 4


Roll out with a rolling pin- if the mixture is too sticky then place a second sheet of baking paper on top to roll.



Step 5


Spread the mixture ~1/2 cm thick.



Step 6


Score with a knife into square cracker-like shapes.



Step 7


Using a fork, prick the centre of each cracker to help the crackers cook evenly.



Step 8


Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for ~30 minutes or until golden brown.



The bran flakes and oats are a really good source of fibre, you can also switch out the flour for whole meal flour to make it more nutty and fibrous.
